The following issues are important in my opinion to ensure fair service to the community.
Open government:
Involve the taxpayers, no backroom deals, minimal in-camera meetings.
Democracy 24/7 throughout the term
No top-down governance, taxpayers to be involved in all major decisions.
Serve the interest of the majority.
Respect the OCP
Protect our environment including Kalamalka Lake and Coldstream Creek.
Protect agricultural land. Our lives will depend on it.
Development governed by the OCP.
Receive services we pay for and pay for services we receive:
Provide services at cost
Minimal reserves and to cover unforeseen emergencies
Use MFA financing for major infrastructure replacement (pay as you go)
Maintain Coldstream’s autonomy while cooperating where feasible on mutually acceptable terms.
No special privileges, developer have the same rights and responsibilities as everyone else.
Water issues:
Repatriate our share of water reserves.
Return sanity to water services.
Establish new water agreement.
Improve water quality at the earliest.
Charge reasonable rates.
Respect the volunteer firemen, re-instate fire chief.
Respect for taxpayers.
All new projects in cooperation with electorate – open government.
Priority to glass plant property – find ways to utilize for maximum benefit.
Review budget, cut where feasible. Must spend within our means.
Develop sensible sewer policies
Sewer extension development driven at developer’s cost.
User pay system instead of flat rate.
