Some tidbits from last night's Council meeting.

Soon there will be a new look to the entrance to Coldstream on Kalamalka Lake Road. Council amended the zoning of the former Funny Fox property and the property adjoining it to the north from C1 to C2 (General Commercial to Highway and Tourist Commercial). The owner, who now owns both properties, intends to provide tourism oriented facilities, including cabins on the properties (see Agenda, page 3).

Council also directed staff to prepare zoning and OCP amendment plans (Agenda pages 3-4) for a 7.5 acre property across from the Spicer Block (of Sports Complex fame). The owner intends to provide multi family units for couples. Interestingly, this project, if approved (and it seemed to be favoured by all members of Council), will require sewer connection. Apparently Council is hoping to extend the sewer trunk line on Aberdeen Road from Kalamalka Road to the proposed development. I hope this is not going to cost present sewer customers an arm and a leg.

Council also endorsed the Petition for funding equity at Vernon Jubilee Regional Hospital initiated by the Vernon and District Taxpayers' Association. Copies of the Petition can be downloaded.

Have a good day!

About Me

My photo
I have been a resident of Coldstream since 1976. I have had 15 years of experience on Council, 3 years as Mayor. As a current Councillor I am working to achieve fair water and sewer rates and to ensure that taxpayers get fair treatment. The current direction regarding water supply is unsustainable and I am doing all I can to get the most cost effective water supply possible.
