Mayors want independent review. --By Richar Rolke.

Interesting that because Mayor Lippert did not get his own way on the governance report he cries foul and demands an independent investigation. He should remember that his opinion is not always shared by his constituents (remember the double defeat of the Civic Building idea).

"How can a regional district truly review itself on restructuring? How can they look at it without bias?" asks Mayor Lippert.

Good questions. Is it not true that Mayor Lippert is a member of NORD with five votes? He received almost $10,000 in salaries from NORD. He is part of NORD. His ideas are not shared by the majority of the directors. That's all.

I wonder how eager Mayor Lippert and the rest of the Mayors would be if cost of all these reviews and studies came out of their own pockets. It is very simple to call for studies when the cost comes out of the taxes of their taxpayers.

The Mayors had their say over the last several months. The report was prepared and sent. Let's see what comes out of it (probably nothing much good). The Eagle's view.

About Me

My photo
I have been a resident of Coldstream since 1976. I have had 15 years of experience on Council, 3 years as Mayor. As a current Councillor I am working to achieve fair water and sewer rates and to ensure that taxpayers get fair treatment. The current direction regarding water supply is unsustainable and I am doing all I can to get the most cost effective water supply possible.
