Mr. Godt is absolutely correct in his assessment of the situation. Why should the Province dictate to electoral area residents how they should govern themselves, as long as they are within the framework of existing legislation? Provincial politicians were elected to represent their constituents not to be their absolute rulers.

While it is true that electricity cannot be saved there are ways to conserve. The biggest problem with generating electricity is to produce as close to the amount to be needed as possible. If we reduce the peak demands we can save on the energy (coal, gas, water etc.) that produces electricity. In many countries they have two meters and encourage people to do heavy usage (such as laundry, dish washing etc.) during off peak periods (such as late night) by providing reduced rates during those periods. However, Mr. Hermann was right that the one hour "light outs" were mainly symbolic gestures.
