In the spring of 2012 Allan Brooks Nature Centre Society is planning to launch a new public education and community engagement project called All Things Natural and we’d like for you to be involved. Please accept this invitation to attend an information session on Thursday, January 19, 2012 at 7PM in the main theatre (D310) of Okanagan College in Vernon. Please feel free to forward this invitation onto others within your organization or community whom may have an interest. During the session we will go over the terms of reference (see attached) and identify individuals’ backgrounds and specific nature-related interests. You do not need to be an expert in any one area, just a desire to share what you know with others.

Don’t worry, if you’re not able to make the information session but are interested to know more and/or would like to make a contribution, you could email any questions you may have to: askanaturalist@gmail.com. Also, the program is planned to run for a full year so if you’re interested to join in later on you are welcome.

I look forward to seeing you on the 19th.

Proposed New Water Use Restrictions - Open House

As outlined in the attached media release, RDNO is hosting an open house this Wednesday, January 11, from 3:30 to 7:30 pm, for residents to ask questions and provide comments regarding the drafted new Water Use Restrictions.

RDNO's survey is available online (on both RDNO's and Coldstream's websites) as well as in Coldstream's reception area.  Deadline for comments is January 20.

Sewer Bylaw

The 2012 sewer bylaw will be finalized on Monday, January 9 at the Council meeting. For a review of what your sewer bill will be next year visit 2012 sewer. The first column is the first quarter consumption in cubic meters. Second column is the 2012 bill as is proposed by the CFO, the third column presents the proposed bill by myself. The fourth column is the current rate. The next three columns represent the unit cost of sewer of the three alternatives. Note: Gyula's plan is based on total user pay with a minimum mandatory fee of $76.00 that includes up to 20 cubic meters of sewage and a unit cost of $3.80 per cu m over 20 cu m.

My impression of the new VJH.

Hello Everyone!                       

I had an opportunity to inspect the new, modern hospital of ours and found it very nice. All the nurses, doctors and every body else were pleasant, professional and most helpful. I arrived at 6:05 AM and I was back home at 11:30 AM. I wish to thank all the staff who were so nice to me and made my stay a relaxed occasion in spite of the circumstances. My minor surgery went well and I should be ready for the new year.  

Don't get sick but if you do be reassured that you will be in excellent hands.
