March against Monsanto!
It is an idea born of the frustration felt by a mother over Monsanto's Genetically Modified seeds and the chemicals used to grow them. On Saturday, people all over the world will "March against Monsanto" to advocate solutions that protect the bees, the environment, and our health. Bring a sign and join the March in Vernon:
WHEN: Saturday May 25th, at 11 AM
WHERE: Starts at Colin Mayes' office, 3105 29th street, then a walk through downtown to MLA Eric Foster's office and back to MP's office.
WHY: to advocate solutions to food production that protect us against Monsanto's GM crops.

Written by Peter McIntyre
Tuesday, 14 May 2013 22:18
Liberal
Eric Foster won a second term in Vernon-Monashee, defeating New
Democrat Mark Olsen by more than 3,100 votes, an even larger margin than
four years ago, 46% to 33%."I hope it's the fact that we worked hard here and we delivered. I promised people I'd would work hard for them and I did, and we were able to deliver on some of the things we wanted to do," Foster told Kiss FM.
Olsen was surprised at the local result.
"I thought it would be a closer race here. I was surprised at the outcome. We ran a really good campaign and we worked really hard to identify and get the vote out."
Scott Anderson of the BC Conservatives had 11.9% of the votes, Rebecca Helps of the Greens 6.7% and independent Korry Zepik had 155 votes (0.64%).
Anderson was pleased with the support he got.
"We did a really good job. We doubled our percentage from the last time we ran here, so I'm pleased with that."

Flying Car Crashes In Landing
Two people are in Vernon hospital with non life threatening injuries
after the crash of a flying car. "Maverick " is a Florida developed
modified car with a large propeller at it's rear, road worthy, and
flies with a para sail for lift. RCMP spokesman Gord Molendyk says it
took off from the Vernon airport before nine this morning. He says the
pilot and a relative were aboard, "It had made a circle like it was
going to approach , obviously something happened, they heard it from
the airport, power up, and then it crashed into the trees by the creek "
Vernon Resident, Ray Seibring, recently brought the fifth ever
flying car to Canada as a prototype, and has been making test flights
in the Okanagan. (see earlier report).
