Interesting debate! Councillor O'Keefe states:“We should be staying out of it and letting them do their work. Respect them for their work,” she said.
“This motion denigrates that work by saying they are charging us too much.”
Should we then allow our employees set their own wages as well to avoid the appearance that we don't trust them? After all Councils manage the finances of a municipality, so they should set the wages.

It's bad enough that poor planning requires the dumping of feces into the landfill but Council now trying to negotiate fees.If you and I take our refuse to the landfill we pay by the weight. If its too wet and heavy we pay more. Remedy? De-water your garbage before taking it to the dump!
Vernon should be a good corporate citizen and show the rest of us that they pay their fair share. Come to think of it ,I pay for it too, as I am a sewer customer!
