- I have been a resident of Coldstream since 1976. I have had 15 years of experience on Council, 3 years as Mayor. As a current Councillor I am working to achieve fair water and sewer rates and to ensure that taxpayers get fair treatment. The current direction regarding water supply is unsustainable and I am doing all I can to get the most cost effective water supply possible.

You're telling me that the Lavington Community Association will clean their own toilets for $5925 and their bid is somehow unacceptable?? I'll bet the suggested winning bidder from Kelowna (semi-local contractor?) hires a local (from the Lavington Community Association) pays them peanuts and tacks on $10k to the bill to Coldstream. It's truly frightening to see such stupid decisions, from generously compensated staff, made with my tax dollars.
In complete agreement with anon 1:04 a.m. Shameful.
The biggest threat to the heatlth and well-being of North Okanagan residents is a lack of liveable wages.
Too many people are trying to earn a crust working two or three crappy jobs, while some contractor in the background scrapes the cream off the contract they won by exploiting the desperation of others.
