About Me
- Coldstreamer
- I have been a resident of Coldstream since 1976. I have had 15 years of experience on Council, 3 years as Mayor. As a current Councillor I am working to achieve fair water and sewer rates and to ensure that taxpayers get fair treatment. The current direction regarding water supply is unsustainable and I am doing all I can to get the most cost effective water supply possible.

Well stated Mr. Kiss. I would have expected more local knowledge from the President of the Chamber of Commerce. The comments on the signed petition seem to also reflect a very poor understanding of both the governance structure, and the cost sharing that takes place at present; many petitioners just lash out at bureaucratic staff/politician costs without an awareness of some of the tradeoffs you speak to.

C.D. Howe Institute:
"...Decentralization among local governments is no hindrance to economic growth, says Bish: some of the fastest-growing metropolitan areas are also among the most governmentally fragmented. Amalgamation, on the other hand, tends to eliminate the very characteristics of local government that are critical to successful low cost operations..."
