Here is the young buck who has been in the news lately visiting our vegetable
garden and here is Gyula trying to coax him out. He is very cute and very
habituated which is not good and yes his nose is very soft! Debbie

Hi, debbie and gyula:
I'm pretty sure this is the same buck who spent a whole day in my back yard, feeding himself on some of my foliage (I didn't mind a bit). I was going to put out some water for him but hesitated and next morning he was gone---next door! I'm glad I hesitated because an article in the paper suggested not to befriend these young bucks.

It was the other way around: he befriended us. Don't worry about water, he finds his way to the lake as the earlier post indicates. Today he visited my next door neighbour and spent most of the day sleeping on his lawn.
How wonderful for you to have that encounter. I just hope people [and dogs] leave him alone. He's obviously not aggressive and may take off after a lady friend later on. Perhaps some folks overreacted to his approach. They frequently take rest stops on quiet lawns.
Thank you for sharing these photos :)
