Dear Sir,
Municipal politics in Vernon and Coldstream has been conducted in a less than desirable manner, to put it mildly, by past administrations, and it seems that trend is continuing.
The sports complex proposal for the Spicer Block of Coldsteam Ranch is the result of personal agendas to be funded by the taxpayers, and the process to date has been marred by little and hasty planning, inadequate information, breaches of the Municipal Act, trampling of democratic processes, and downright deceit.
To top things off, some individuals thought it was a good idea to use children to further their cause by having them appear in chambers, claiming they are deprived youngsters and that this complex is all about them in an attempt to turn this into an emotional issue spiked with guilt.
So much for the concepts of right and wrong! With the exception of 3 Coldstream councillors, shame on all of you involved in promoting or enabling this fiasco, and save us any righteous indignation because it won't wash.
The fact of the matter is that there is no lack of ball diamonds or playing fields in the area and if more of either is requested this is not the appropriate way to do it or attempt to fulfill it, including the proposed referendum at taxpayers expense. If council was doing its job properly none of this would be necessary. There are other options to explore.
