The latest is Victor Cumming, an economic researcher and regional economist.
Cumming says it's something he's wanted to do for some time.
"A number of people have been encouraging me over the last number of
years and earlier it just didn't fit with my life and family and now
it's a much better position," says Cumming.
Cumming says he thinks Vernon needs skilled competent people as mayor and council, and hopes more will join the race.
"Over the past decade, I have continued to teach community economic
development for Simon Fraser University. Today, our firm works primarily
with local, regional, and First Nation governments in Canada to provide
economic development, integrated planning, and business establishment
and operation assistance."
"I am fortunate that I am now in a position to offer my time and
energy to fill the Mayor's chair, and to serve the community where we
chose to raise our family and grow our business. If elected, I will
immediately wind down my professional responsibilities to focus my
attention on the full‐time role of mayor," says Cumming in a news
release.
Cumming is the second to declare, joining former councillor Klaus Tribes who announced his intentions back in April.
Kiss FM News has learned a third candidate will join the race Friday.
