This is information recently provided from RDNO.
A valve chamber will be installed 330 metres east of McClounie Road at approximately 10890 Kalmalka Road. The primary purpose is to allow additional fire flows to the Coldstream Elementary and Coldstream municipal hall.
1. In the short term areas in Central Coldstream near Kalamalka Lake will receive East Kal Lake water. Below is a sketch of the area. Short term means:1.1. After the check valve is operational; and2. In the Medium term, once the DCWTP is operational, it will feed Cunliffe reservoir, so most of Central Coldstream will be fully on Duteau.
1.2. While water demand is in shoulder and winter periods; and
1.3. Until the Duteau Water Treatment Plant is fully proved out, and the water quality is aesthetically pleasing. Approximately December 2010Fax 250.545.47332.1. This period is approximately from mid December 2010 to August 2011, if the DCWTP operation goes as expected.3. In the long term when the Grey Road Reservoir is removed off line, the check valve chamber will no longer be necessary at the proposed location and will be recovered and reused to assist fire fighting from the Duteau PZ 500.
2.2. The East Kal intake would be abandoned for potable use and dedicated to irrigation use.
2.3. The exception is the area on North Kal around Kidston School
