Greater Vernon Parks and Recs say they provide the "community" with opportunities to be active.

Opportunites to be active are further reduced when a private group is allowed to takes over a public space such as Coldstream Creek Park or Kal Beach.

Where do you draw the line at how many groups you will accomodate?

Coldstream Creek Park can be reserved for special events: $143.85 a day or $71.92 for 4 hours. I did not see a fee for the use of Kal Beach.

I would like to see a question on the ballot at the next municipal election with words to this effect:

Should private groups be allowed to reserve public spaces for special events given that this will exclude multipes uses by the public?

About Me

My photo
I have been a resident of Coldstream since 1976. I have had 15 years of experience on Council, 3 years as Mayor. As a current Councillor I am working to achieve fair water and sewer rates and to ensure that taxpayers get fair treatment. The current direction regarding water supply is unsustainable and I am doing all I can to get the most cost effective water supply possible.
