Kalamalka Lake Provincial Park fire.

A significant fire broke out in Kal Lake Park around 5 PM today. Immediate action was taken by the Forest Service originally by four or five smaller water bombers followed by huge retardant bombers. Suppression crew was standing by to mop up the operation. Hopefully, there won't be any evacuation of nearby residents, including this writer. We must appreciate the immediate action of all agencies that responded to the call, including our own Fire Department. Their quick action prevented a major disaster.

The cause of the fire appears to be human origin reinforcing the need to be very vigilant and obey the no smoking signs posted at the Park entrances. The most likely cause of this fire was an extinguished discarded cigarette.

The Eagle.

About Me

My photo
I have been a resident of Coldstream since 1976. I have had 15 years of experience on Council, 3 years as Mayor. As a current Councillor I am working to achieve fair water and sewer rates and to ensure that taxpayers get fair treatment. The current direction regarding water supply is unsustainable and I am doing all I can to get the most cost effective water supply possible.
