Fighting the current implementation of the Coldstream sewer issue, is in my opinion, an exercise in futility and little more than a rear guard action as the tax payers of Coldstream have by now lost the battle and are in full retreat. The issue at hand amounts to little more than damage control to the tax payers pocket book. The Postill and Corner counsels have largely implemented their corporate agendas to ‘grow’ and develop Coldstream by taking on large capital projects with their associated debts and turning the place into a never ending throughly unpleasant construction project.
I was particularly appalled at the outrageous favoritism given to the owner of the Coldstream Meadows project and offered to the owner of the Spicer block for the proposed sports complex. Affairs at city hall seem to smack of croonyism if not scandal. One can only suspect that the modus operandi of the Coldstream business elite is ‘to make the stupid pay for their entrepreneurial ‘improvements’. If these developments continue greater Vernon and Coldstream will certainly become an urban hellhole whose birthing pangs we are now witness to. I for one will place my hope in the wisdom of the greater fool who will buy my overvalued house and take on by exorbitant tax burden as I move on to greener less crowded pastures.
