Walking down memory lane - interesting things pop up!

Speaking of returning to the dark mists of time...

In retrospect, it seems to me, that a former Vernon Mayor and Council didn't raise anything close to a clarion cry of outrage over the opening of Cosens Bay Road, and the launch of the real-estate lottery win that ensued. The death of the tranquil and wildlife rich Kalamalka Park as we once knew it, surely didn't happen by accident.

The powers that be could not have been unaware that this license to commute through Kal Park would facilitate under-the-radar year round living at Cosens Bay and the subsequent threat to Kalamalka Lake: Vernon's water supply.

Every action, or non-action is preceded by a thought. So why was Vernon apparently mute? I can't believe that some string-pullers weren't playing some kind of long-range game, as witnessed on the Commonage.

I thought it strange that a former Coldstream Mayor and friend to developers, cut the Park loose from Coldstream, who might have been able to influence limits on travel through the park, and development on its southern border given the fire risk and environmental concerns. There where whispers of a fly-in facility/marina at the colony at that time.

Some will recall that the Dark Force had enlisted the Cougar Canyon climbers who wished to drive through one "expendable" paradise to reach another equally fragile paradise. Many will remember that the Dark Force proposed a parking lot at Cosens Bay hoping that that this crumb would satisfy any plebes opposed to the Dark Force's vision of a paved road and services through the park. The clever employment of special interests as a leverage to push their Dark dream of development at Cosens Bay had the finger prints of Machiavelli all over it.

About Me

My photo
I have been a resident of Coldstream since 1976. I have had 15 years of experience on Council, 3 years as Mayor. As a current Councillor I am working to achieve fair water and sewer rates and to ensure that taxpayers get fair treatment. The current direction regarding water supply is unsustainable and I am doing all I can to get the most cost effective water supply possible.
