Letter to the Editor - Morning Star

Former Councillor Shawn Lee is somewhat optimistic in his evaluation of Kal Beach. As a beach the property is a liability as it requires continued maintenance with no direct revenue. In order to change the value of the property Coldstream Council would have to rezone the property to something like tourist commercial. I wonder how such change of zoning would affect Council's popularity? I fear even to think about it!

As a quarter-century Coldsteam resident I have never entertained the interest or desire to claim a patch-work piece of waterfront at Kal Beach.

Nor has anyone I've ever spoken to in this community. I have observed that those who moved here for peace and quiet are frustrated in their attempts to seek a lake experience which refreshes the soul.

Kal beach does not offer that respite. It does however offer relatively easy access and an energized space. In this respect, its draw is more regional, than local.

About Me

My photo
I have been a resident of Coldstream since 1976. I have had 15 years of experience on Council, 3 years as Mayor. As a current Councillor I am working to achieve fair water and sewer rates and to ensure that taxpayers get fair treatment. The current direction regarding water supply is unsustainable and I am doing all I can to get the most cost effective water supply possible.
