This vehicle was broken into Sunday afternoon at around 3:00 PM at the Red Gate parking lot on Kidston Road. A purse on the passenger seat in full view probably attracted the culprit's attention.
Keep your valuables safely stored away out of view

I also have had my car broken into at the Red Gate -- but I had my purse hidden in my trunk. The thief left the doors locked, and my purse just as it was (with cash) -- just took my 2 credit cards. Very sneaky.
Several years ago I was broken into at Cosens Bay. My valuables were "cleverly" hidden in my station wagon, leading me to believe I had been watched. My driver's side window was smashed, quite brazen because I was parked in full view of the last house. My small purse, wallet with cash and credit cards were stolen. My purse and credit cards were found in Lavington. They also managed to get into my locked glove compartment where nothing was taken. This can be an issue because once they have your address they can break in to your home while you are in the park.
A quick check of the bushes to the north of the out-house and path revealed a well-trampled look-out spot with several cigarette butts on the ground.
As time passed, I saw with great regularity the tell-tale blue or green glass sparkling in the morning light. Once, I decided to do more exploring. I checked on the rocky slope above the lot and found a couple of ashtrays. Supposedly parking change was taken.
As your commenter noted, it is not always enough to lock away valuables. Sometimes smash and grab thieves are just hoping to win the lottery. I have heard of someone being broken into at Cosens and the only thing taken was an old pair of sneakers a trophy of sorts I suppose?
