Coldstream Council does not blast NORD. They realize that NORD is the sum total of the participants. However, they must represent their constituents interest and if they feel staff need to be instructed to change some parameters it is Council's prerogative to bring those issues to the attention of staff. Coldstream Council considers NORD as us and not them.

Once again we see the constant arguing between local governments. This area should be ruled by one government. This constant infighting and special interest protection is archaic. Lets vote to amalgamate the North Okanagan into one entity. This woud cut down on cost and end all this us and them nonsense!
I assume you are from Vernon and hoping to drum up some extra tax money to help pay for the additional bureaucrats your Council managed to hire. Good luck with that!
No I am from Coldstream and feel that we are all spending too much money on bureaucrats. There is duplication of services and way too much infighting and jockeying for position. Its a mess and as a taxpayer I am fed up with reading about all of the inter government squabbling from the differant juristictions. Perhaps you are happy to just sit back and watch and are okay with Coldstream piggybacking off of Vernon. Coldstream seems to be okay with this setup but does not want to reciprocate with offering any services here. Coldstream's stance seems to be "not in my backyard"
If you are from Coldstream you are a rare bird willing to pay significantly higher taxes for the privilege of having Vernon Council making decisions on your behalf. The tax differences alone would dissuade most Coldstream residents to change leadership. Check out the tax differences!

I have lived in Vernon as well and maybe you should redo your math. Coldstream taxes are the highest in the area and we have very little to show for them as far as infastructure ie. sidewalks or recreation facilities. Regardless of who is paying more or less, We are all paying too much of our tax dollars to employ politicians. An area the size of this region does not need 2 seperate municipal governments, 1 regional disrtict and a bunch of seperate electoral areas. Amalgamate and take some noses out of the taxpayers trough!

It’s obvious that facts will not confuse you. So this is my last answer to you. You probably believe that the Sun orbits the Earth and the HST benefits the general taxpayer. So be it.
Your “logic”, however, amazes me. You lived in the city where you paid lower taxes, enjoyed the benefits of all the services and you chose to move to Coldstream where you now pay the highest taxes in the area. You must be a masochist and punish yourself for some imaginary misdeed in the past. Or else you are a plant to try to promote amalgamation from within. Anyway, in the meantime enjoy beautiful Coldstream and its amenities you chose to trade for!
Sadly Anonymous, we wouldn't save much by eliminating politicians, as they represent less than 1% of our many local governments' annual payroll, and barely a tiny drop in the overall budget bucket.
With less politicians, would we have any better chance of keeping our well-paid bureaucrats in check? Methinks the bureaucratic machine would only get bigger!
