Senders Note: So to be clear....we are going to spend billions on new jails for unreported crimes? First - how do you charge, much less convict, someone for an unreported crime? Second - even if we could convict someone of a crime that went unreported, Mr. Day's own "evidence" says that these crimes are not the type of crime that you go to prison for.
This "scare the crap outta people" politics leads people to believe that crime is getting worse in this country because the Harper government believes it's a good campaign issue for them. This is just twisted. This is why the Tories want to make Stats Canada useless - so they can make stuff up, and no one will have the data to disprove them. Sort of like Village Council proposing a prison for Lumby with data provided by people who want prisons.
We should all beware of the next stage – turning honest people into criminals so that we may become the inmates for these new prisons.
Why would anybody want to place our community into the middle of this misguided and sinister agenda? Contact Mayor Acton mayoracton@lumby.ca and tell him that there are better ideas to raise revenues than turning Lumby into the Okanagan’s Prison Town – please tell him to change his mind.
Please tell the Lumby Mayor and Council that a prison in our nice town isn’t really a good idea.

300 people came out to the Lumby Council Meeting tonight. Paul Fisher spoke for all concerned citizens of Lumby and area.
