RCMP are in the Glenrosa area helping with the tactical evacuation of residents in the Glenrosa area. Glenrosa residents who are not able to attend the emergency reception centre at Royal Lepage Place are asked to call:
778-797-2269
Due to a forest fire in the Turnbull Road area and concern for public safety, residents in the entire Glenrosa area are being evacuated. Approximately 3,000 homes have been evacuated.
Highway 97 southbound at Hebert Road and northbound at Drought Hill has been closed.
No injuries have been reported.
The fire is approximately 50 hectares in size.
People are asked to stay away from the area to allow effective emergency response. Boaters are asked to stay away from Gellatly Bay and nearby waters to allow for safe water bomber activity.
Evacuated residents are being asked to report in person to the Emergency Social Services Reception Centre at Royal LePage Place – 2760 Cameron Road, West Kelowna – Mt. Boucherie Community Complex. If you are unable to report to the Emergency Social Services Reception Centre, Glenrosa residents are asked to call 778-797-2269 to register by phone.
Staff at the reception centre will be able to assist those residents requiring accommodation.
People concerned about their animals in the area are asked to call CDART
A public information number has been established. Concerned residents are asked to call: (250) 469-8490
Currently the fire is over 15 hectares in size in the Glenrosa area. Currently Gormans Mill is being threatened and fire crews are on site pre-wetting the property.
