Boil water asvisory issued -- by Richard Rolke.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Interesting comments from our utility manager. He does not know what the health risk is but increased risk is minor. How does he know that? Before the referendum he told us that there is a high risk of a major health outbreak if we don't improve the water quality. Now he is minimizing the potential health hazard.

The risk could not be that low if "
Until further notice, water for drinking, washing fruits and vegetables, making beverages or ice and brushing teeth should be boiled for one minute". That actually sounds serious.

It's obvious that this water source has the highest frequency of boil water advisories. Yet we started quality improvement of the safest water source: Kalamalka Lake.

Also, customers of Duteau Creek source pay the same water rates as those from Kal Lake yet they are supposed to supplement these rates by buying bottled or distilled water for home use.

The Eagle.

About Me

My photo
I have been a resident of Coldstream since 1976. I have had 15 years of experience on Council, 3 years as Mayor. As a current Councillor I am working to achieve fair water and sewer rates and to ensure that taxpayers get fair treatment. The current direction regarding water supply is unsustainable and I am doing all I can to get the most cost effective water supply possible.
