Local politicians have got the ball rolling on a review of Greater Vernon’s master water plan.
At a special meeting of the Greater Vernon Advisory Committee this morning, directors outlined around a dozen objectives for the long term capital plan that will be looked into closer.
Director Jim Garlick also led a motion to form a committee made up of water customers, stakeholders, and politicians that will set a terms of reference for the plan review
Directors also agreed to hold another special meeting June 11th.
The fate of the plan has been in question since local voters turned down a 70 million dollar referendum last fall for six water projects.

My impression from the Morning Star article that the "stakeholders " and politicians with "maybe" some of the peons would form this committee. I feel that each and every person who turns on a tap and pays a bill is a STAKEHOLDER. Time to get some of the politicians and certainly the oft reported "staff" out of it.
It boils down [hmmm] to choice of source in the beginning! The wrong choice was made and none of the politicians and 'staff' who had input at that time will admit to a colossal expensive blunder. Get some backbone!!
We must wake up and face up to a bad, bad decision and do it properly this time.
Used to fish up at Aberdeen, Haddo, Grizzley Swamps, over 60 yrs ago and even then they always were getting really drained and soggy by August.. then got worse till winter
