Forum at Schubert Centre for Vernon council candidatesGreen was the theme for the Vernon council candidates at a forum Thursday night.

About 150 people took in the event at the Schubert Centre, put on by the group SENS, Sustainable Environment Network Society.

The 70 million dollar water referendum was one of the questions, and not one of the 18 candidates on hand said they would be voting for it, with concerns around the cost and the need for the projects.

Other topics included allowing new housing types like Earthships, geo-thermal heating in public buildings, ways to reduce traffic, and what to do with the vacant, former Bank of Montreal building downtown.

All five mayoralty candidates were present, and 13 of the 14 for councillor, with Colt Wilson out of town, and not able to make it.

About Me

My photo
I have been a resident of Coldstream since 1976. I have had 15 years of experience on Council, 3 years as Mayor. As a current Councillor I am working to achieve fair water and sewer rates and to ensure that taxpayers get fair treatment. The current direction regarding water supply is unsustainable and I am doing all I can to get the most cost effective water supply possible.
