Readers write - Questions from Debbie,

This posting is a eulogy to the Coldstream pond adjacent to Coldstream Lumber on what was the old sawmill property.  This pond has been here as long as I have  [40 years] and is a breeding site and nursery for many bird species.  It is also a resting area for hundreds of ducks in the fall.  These photos are a sample of what the site looks like now and what we have lost.  The question is did the property owners obtain a permit to do this and from whom because they didn't get one from the District of Coldstream and there definitely wasn't any public input.  View these and weep.

About Me

I have been a resident of Coldstream for the last 34 years. I have had 13 years of experience on Council, 3 years as Mayor. I have closely followed Council's operation and found an alarming trend of eroding democracy, high service fees (water and sewer), favouritism to a developer, disrespect to volunteers (fire chief and firemen), disregard to OCP and a number of other issues. My pledge is to rectify these excesses in an open, democratic government.
