- I have been a resident of Coldstream since 1976. I have had 15 years of experience on Council, 3 years as Mayor. As a current Councillor I am working to achieve fair water and sewer rates and to ensure that taxpayers get fair treatment. The current direction regarding water supply is unsustainable and I am doing all I can to get the most cost effective water supply possible.

Mayoralty challenger has lived 2 years in Coldstream and never held public office!! Perhaps a learning position on council would have been a better option for him.

Mayoralty challenger is unaware that the job only pays 20K/year!! He probably thinks its a 6 figure salary haha!!!
Everyone has the right to run for public office, and I am pretty sure if he has the capacity to fill out nomination papers he knows its not a six figure job, give the guy some credit
Interesting Mr Hrabchuk feels competent to run for mayor. If he is so civic minded it is odd he has never, [that I am aware of} done any volunteer work or run for Committees in Coldstream since arriving. Was he on the Weed Pull, Trail building or something? Sounds like a ticked off special interest person to me.
To the last comment......I agree with your assessment. There are no shortage of opportunities to get involved or voice your opinion in Coldstream. Mr Hrabchuk lists "social activities, and community activism" as his favorite activities on his political Facebook page. It may be a typo ..... should probably read "community inactivism".
Mr. Hrabchuk has been here 2 years. He is entitled to opinions. But he should focus on facts and not simple-minded assumptions on Mr. Garlick's qualifications or expertise or even his education.
The 'he's only a school teacher' comments I've heard are incorrect. That isn't his only area of expertise, experience or even the whole story of his educational bachground. People who like to slander others perhaps should first get an education. Go to some All Candidates forums, for example.
