As a former fire Chief in Lavington I have to agree with the comments attributed to Tony Metz. During my tenure I found both Council and the administration at that time less than supportive. We had to fight for basic injury insurance. Getting a budget approved for needed equipment was a constant battle. Lavington (where the main industrial base is located was treated as very second class) and only through constant appearances by myself was I able to obtain a larger budget to meet the community needs. Council should show more appreciation and understanding of the volunteer role, particularly when considering tax savings to the municipality.
